Like most social networks, this one is free to use, attracting millions of new users every week; as a result, it is widely used by marketers, online shoppers, and malicious spammers because of the sheer volume of people it allows them to reach quickly, especially on Twitter, where conversations develop more rapidly than on other online forums.
Spammers, inexperienced users who spam out of ignorance, and those who follow lousy advice from unreliable websites are the natural obstacles for Twitter marketers.
Here I’ve included ten actionable marketing strategies that other marketers and I have found to be effective in promoting brands in a socially responsible manner on Twitter:
First, sharing well-known quotations without context or a link to an affiliate or self-promotional page that has nothing to do with the phrase. If you find this disturbing, please refrain from adding links to inspirational quotes or helpful hints.
Second, when sharing an Amazon affiliate link to a book you think your followers may enjoy, it’s a good idea to provide a little review or summary of the book to give them an idea of what they’re getting themselves into. You will lose a lot of followers if you tweet things like (I’m reading “book title”) and then immediately link to your Amazon or other merchant affiliate link. Writing a review post or article and then tweeting the piece’s title and the connection is a more effective and potentially fruitful strategy.
Third, always add a title or description when tweeting a link to boost clicks and retweets. Tweeting a single connection is another terrible practice you should avoid. You could think piquing readers’ interest will increase clickthrough rates, but you’d be wrong. Twitter users, or “tweeple,” are wary of clicking on standalone links for fear of being redirected to a virus-loading site or wasting their time. In addition, the new Twitter interface displays the full URL rather than a shortened version.
Use a service like TwitterFeeds or SocialHoomph to keep your blog updated and linked to your Twitter feed. If you use a social media app, your profile will be automatically updated whenever you publish new content to your website or blog. Avoid using trite phrases like “check out my website” or “read my blog” as calls to action. This could be effective if all of the users are kindergarteners. Of course not! You may create an introductory paragraph similar to ‘New blog post:’ and place it before the title of your content.
5. If you want to promote your own or an affiliate’s goods, think of creative ways to do so other than simply referring to the order page, and if you must do so, make sure the offer is appropriately set up so you don’t lose followers in the process. You can do this in several ways, such as by offering a VIP coupon code or discount for followers only, by creating a series of training articles or blog posts about a problem in the niche and recommending the product as the best solution, by creating videos and tweeting the link to it, or by offering a free report or eBook to get email leads and then following up with promotional email. Don’t tweet promotional content that includes links to your products or affiliate links. Direct marketing efforts aren’t the only option for posting ads.
Engage your followers and potentially gain new ones by participating in trending conversations and events on Twitter using well-known hashtags (Twitter’s tagging system). Popular hashtag events include “#musicmonday,” where users post their current playlists, and “#FollowFriday,” where users promote their friends to their followers. You shouldn’t post links to your online store’s sale page with trending product hashtags like #musicmonday. Hashtags of this type are typically designed so that users may voice their opinions on a particular product or topic; for example, “Music Monday” encourages users to tweet about the music they are currently listening to or enjoying, complete with a link to the actual song or video rather than a sales page.
If you have a great promotion, don’t publish it just once; you shouldn’t tweet it more than three times. It’s ideal for sending it three times: once in the morning, once in the afternoon, and once in the evening with a reminder that it’s about to expire. Keep in mind that annoying people with the same promotion over and over again is annoying, boring, sad, and ineffective. By using this approach, you are destroying the worth of your offer.
Never send the same offer every day or week, even if the offer was successful; instead, have a few different types of campaigns you can put together once a week or twice a month, whichever works better for you. 8. As I mentioned, you need to use your imagination to create different promotions or offers. Using many daily tweets to promote the same product or service is a surefire way to lose all your followers.
9. Boosting my fan base. If you’re going to tweet, make it worthwhile for your following. By sharing information that is pertinent to your area, you can attract an engaged and engaged audience. Keep an eye on the stats in your industry, and use that info to initiate some contacts. Don’t just start following random people on Twitter without a plan or marketing strategy. Only follow persons who interest you, share your emphasis on the market, or have similar interests.
10 Use the tools I’ve mentioned to automate your account, but keep it alive by constantly talking to and interacting with your followers. Don’t let your Twitter account or tweets run on autopilot. It’s convenient to save time by having your tweets sent out automatically. However, your followers will notice if you don’t engage with them, and they will unfollow you.
